During World War II, in Toulon, difficult decisions had to be made, the one that everyone remembers is the destruction of the Toulon fleet. Rather than joining the Free French forces in North Africa and to prevent the Nazis from taking possession of the Toulon fleet, on the order of the Admiralty, on November 27, 1942, the Toulon fleet self-sunk, that is, it sank its own warships.
