A city steeped in history

Your guided tour of the harbor can begin to Toulon. If this is the case, you will leave the Kronstadt dock of the harbor. On leaving, you can see several infrastructure.

First, you pass the arsenal and all its warships, the best known, the Charles de Gaulle.

Then after passing La Seyne and St Mandrier, you come back to Toulon on seeing the Mourillon, and past the Royal Tower, which is the first building of defense of the harbor. The commercial port, docks of the port of Toulon, where the most popular is the trip to Corsica. Finally you will return to the port of Toulon on the Kronstadt dock.

The strengths of the harbor

Departing or passing Seyne-sur-Mer, you will see the port of La Seyne, pretty marina where there is an old lift bridge built by Gustave Eiffel.
You then pass the JOA casino, the old shipyards that have experienced the construction of wooden boats, and changes to the boats with metal hulls.

Then the strong Eguillette will stand before you.
Finally, along the cornice of Tamaris, you will see the fort Balaguier, having been built to complement the action of the royal tower, and come to the Sablettes, exclusive area of La Seyne-sur-Mer.

The peninsula

Through Saint-plank, you will see the marine cemetery. It is not as bleak as it looks, the cemetery is actually where wet unarmed ships of the French Navy.
You drive past the site of IMS, business maintenance and repair yacht, where large pools are being created on the former Naval Air Station.

Finally, you can see the dike. This famous dike protects the small harbor of the East wind and measuring about 1.2 km long.
It was created in the 19th century and suffered extensive damage during World War II. Over the years it has been renovated and the latest works are from 2010.
