Where to walk in Port-Cros?
You can discover this marvellous island and its natural park through 30km of paths and incredible panoramas. Put on your walking shoes and go on an adventure in the forests of Port-Cros.
THE RIDGE CIRCUIT
The Crêtes circuit is 3 hours long, and you will discover the western part of the island. You will pass the “maison aux vaches”, the “plage du Sud”, the old “batterie du Sud”, and the highest point of the island, Mount Vinaig
THE PORT MAN CIRCUIT
This 4-hour walk will take you to the beach of La Palud, the fort of Port Man and the Fort de l’Eminence, with magnificent views of the Rascas rock. Come and discover the eastern part of Port-Cros, in 4 hours of walking.

The Crêtes circuit is a 3-hour hike, and good shoes are required!
The South of Port-Cros
For the Circuit des Crêtes, you must follow the pink markings. We advise you to walk the circuit clockwise, especially during the summer period, as this will allow you to dive into the waters of the southern beach at the end of the walk. On the way you will be able to admire the magnificent landscapes of the south coast of the island. The sea can be very rough on a mistral day, which contrasts well with the quiet valley of La Solitude. You don’t have to worry about the heat, as most of the path is shaded.
When you leave the harbour, you should head right towards the southern beach. Then walk along the mother and pass the St Helena manor. When you reach the statue of St Joseph, turn right towards the Pomme d’Or. On the rest of the way, you will find ruins, the highest point of the island which is Mount Vinaigre (194m). If 3 hours of walking seem long, after Mount Vinaigre, take the path of the Pomme d’Or which goes back down to the village, otherwise continue on the path of the crests.

A military heritage
To do the Port Man circuit, follow the pink markers. The route offers a variety of landscapes, history, forest walks and Port Man Bay. From the harbour, head for the Fort du Moulin. After passing the foot of the rampart tower, take the path on the right, opposite the drawbridge. Most of the path is shaded, so you can walk along the path without being in the sun. Along the way you will find small numbered plaques showing the main plants of the island.
Further along the path, you can see the Rascas rock and the Palud beach below. Then continue your way towards the beach via a staircase carved into the rock. You then arrive at the bay of Port Man which is sheltered from the mistral, then comes the fort, which cannot be visited. Then you will pass in front of the Fort de l’Eminence and the Fort de l’Estissac and then you will return to the Port.
