Standing in the heart of one of the world’s most beautiful harbours, the port of Toulon has been built on a naval base since the 16th century. A military heritage, it has witnessed the greatest wars waged by France, notably the war against the Spanish, the British and the Algerian war. With the end of the latter in 1962, the period of military activity in the port came to an end and the harbour was once again discovered as a major place of maritime activity.
