The flora

The flora of Porquerolles is so rich that it is very difficult to list all species of the island.

Porquerolles, les origines de l'îles

The fragrant island

The conservatory is related to a network of scientists and field botanists. Their goal is to detect and identify threatened species and evaluate their threat level and the endangered species are conserved in the hamlet of Porquerolles. The corresponding seeds are protected and it limits the extinction of these plants and the conservation of this natural reserve.

L_ILE_PARFUMEE_P2

When you look more closely, you can see species such as the holm oak, cork oak, olive or juniper. The vegetation of the island is so rich and so diverse that it would be too long to list them. However, some stand out as the Porquerolles National Park has several imported varieties such as cypress Mexico. Many fruit trees such as orange, mandarin or lemon trees populate the island which reinforces the exotic side of the fragrant island. The vegetation of Porquerolles is full of color and all the flowers, trees, fruit trees and produce a sweet fragrance, thanks to which it is known as "fragrant island". You will therefore be possible to walk in the forest or in the middle of flowers and walkways along the golden mimosas.

Porquerolles and vines

In addition to all this vegetation, some winemakers have decided to implement in Porquerolles.
In fact there are 3 areas on the island.
The wine is produced in partnership with the National Botanical Conservatory of Porquerolles in order to protect the ecosystem of the island.

Porquerolles, Domaine de l'Île

Le domaine de l'île

The estate produces rosé wines, red and white, classified AOP Côtes de Provence. The wines are distinguished by their mineral character, powerful and harmonious iodinated both.

The property is located on the plains of Brégançonnet and Notre Dame.
Cultivation is done without any weed killer, fertilizer or insecticide for the sake of the environment.

Porquerolles, La Courtade

La Courtade

Henri Vidal, in love with the island decided to create in 1983, Porquerolles 1 field in certified organic by ECOCERT.

The operation is done with total respect for the environment.
White, red and rosé wines are produced, and tastings are often organized.

Porquerolles, Domaine de Persinsky

Le domaine Persinsky

The estate produces rosé, white and red AOC, and is open for tasting and sale of wines directly to the field.

You can find the field to the path of the nursery on the island of Porquerolles.

Wildlife

Wildlife Porquerolles is known for its diversity. Being protected, it can more easily grow and thus populate the island.
What's more pleasant during a walk in the forest and to observe a rabbit or other wild animal to turn a grove?

Porquerolles, la faune

An animated island

Wildlife Porquerolles is as important as its flora. On the island, one can easily cross a doing a partridge or a rabbit.

There are also large varieties of sinful birds, such as gulls, gulls, petrels, or cormorants.

In autumn many migratory birds like thrushes, blackbirds, the woodcock, the turtle dove, the wood pigeon, the lapwing, the starling and other birds inhabiting the forest. All these birds are a special choir that brings out the wild side of this natural space.

However, the dominant noise remains our dear grasshoppers who are there all summer in the south of France, for your enjoyment.

In addition to the wildlife, there is also an extremely dense aquatic fauna.

Indeed, fish, shellfish and crustaceans inhabit the most diverse porquerollaises the water.

Fishing is practiced in the area, and fish and lobsters on the island are particularly appreciated.
